Diaverum’s digital transformation journey has reached a significant milestone, with the Treatment Guidance System (TGS) achieving full implementation across our clinics globally.

Since its launch in 2018, TGS has played a fundamental role in Diaverum’s transformation journey, converting decades of dialysis know-how into a single digital platform,  ensuring the highest standards of care, advanced support for clinical teams, and lower costs for payors. It has also laid the groundwork for a number of innovations in Diaverum, most notably the d.CARE platform. With global integration achieved, TGS is set to unlock new opportunities for innovation, inspiring improvements across our clinical and operational systems.

More than just a technical solution, TGS is also designed to support and empower the heart of our business — our renal nurses. It provides them with a tool that streamlines their workflows, enabling them to focus on what matters most: our patients. In doing so, it has fundamentally enhanced the delivery of care, ensuring that each dialysis session is conducted safely, efficiently, and with unwavering attention to patient well-being.

How it works
TGS has revolutionised the way we deliver care. By standardising processes and providing a reliable framework for data capture, TGS supports high-quality care while enabling continuous improvement through data-driven insights. The system, accessed via tablets at the patient's bedside, collects and provides real-time data throughout the dialysis treatment, operating in a completely paperless environment. TGS works optimally when integrated with d.CONNECT, which facilitates seamless data exchange between dialysis machines, TGS tablets, and d.CARE, providing a comprehensive view of each patient’s treatment. The TGS also connects with the Diaverum Enterprise Resource Planning system, which manages stock and financial transactions.

Gathering pace in 2024
In 2024, Diaverum added several clinics across various regions to TGS, including the UK, Portugal, Chile, Russia, Italy, China, Morocco, Malaysia, and Germany. Additionally, our latest market, Greece, has seen the addition of its Peristeri, Koropi, Ilion, Chalkida, and Leivadia clinics, with these expected to be operational by December.

Dr Fernando Macário, CMO, had this to say about the news: “I am thrilled with the strides we’ve made with the TGS initiative. This signifies a major achievement for Diaverum, where our history of excellence in renal care, converges with the bright future offered through technological innovation, to strengthen our ability of offering life-enhancing renal care. I fondly recall our first steps in Santiago de Compostela; today, we can celebrate the profound impact TGS has had on our operations”.

David Jakobsson, VP IT, added: "I’m incredibly proud of TGS – the product, the rollout, and the reception from the user community. It’s the result of true teamwork, where medical, IT, end-users, and other Diaverum functions are coming together as one”.

“TGS has been built on a vision and sustained by endurance; to see its rollout now come to fruition is a dream come true. Even after more than six years, the application remains modern and relevant. We’re committed to keeping it evergreen and continuously improving it. The TGS project, and everything we’ve learned from it, has been key to the success of the d.CARE Platform project. It’s truly set a new standard for all our internal development activities."

Fredrik Warringer, Director - Digital Enablers, rounded off the comments: "2024 marked the completion of TGS's implementation across our clinics, but this is not the end. It remains a dynamic system that will continue to evolve, alongside the needs of our patients and the growth of Diaverum”.

“We are now focused on expanding its capabilities and ensuring that every clinic is operating at its full potential. Our commitment to embracing new technologies and integrating them into our care pathways ensures that we remain at the forefront of healthcare innovation”.
