We are excited to announce that Diaverum Brazil is expanding its presence in the country with two new clinics. Its de novo reference clinic in Sergipe, standing proud as one of the largest dialysis centres in the country, along with its acquired clinic in São Paulo, offering comprehensive multidisciplinary care, will enable it to significantly increase access to life-enhancing renal care across the country.

Since entering Brazil in 2017, Diaverum has been ambitiously expanding its presence across the country. The newly acquired clinic in São Paulo will further strengthen our established presence in Brazil’s largest city. Meanwhile, the all-new Sergipe clinic represents a significant milestone in improving the quality of life for chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients in Brazil's smallest state, where we already operate two clinics. These new openings come less than a year after the launch of a new private clinic in Guarulhos, the second most populous city in the state of São Paulo.

A new era for CKD patients in Sergipe
Located in the city of Aracaju, the capital of Sergipe, the new clinic spans a total area of 2,700m² and boasts a modern structure equipped with cutting-edge technology. It provides a comfortable and safe environment for patients, featuring 100 dialysis stations, offering the capacity to treat over 600 haemodialysis patients. In addition, the clinic hosts one of Brazil's largest peritoneal dialysis programmes, serving over 200 patients. The Aracaju clinic receives patients from many surrounding cities.

Expanding our presence in São Paulo
The newly acquired clinic, featuring 46 fully equipped dialysis stations, will deliver haemodialysis treatment to approximately 270 patients. Additionally, the facility is poised for further expansion, increasing Diaverum’s capacity to treat over 66% of  patients receiving treatment across the region. The clinic’s primary focus will be on providing high-quality haemodialysis to public patients, while also offering comprehensive multidisciplinary care through specialised consultations, nutritional support, and social services.

Rafael Romanini, SVP Europe & LatAm regions, commented on the news:
“These are exciting times for Brazil and represent a significant milestone in our growth plan in the country. We are committed to enhancing the lives of people with kidney disease by offering world-class care supported by our innovative, digital solutions. Additionally, we are dedicated to broadening access to the highest quality of care by opening clinics in areas with high need”.

Luciano Bonaldo, Country Managing Director for Diaverum Brazil, shared the following: “This highly-strategic move marks a critical step in our mission to deliver high-quality renal care to even more patients. It will significantly increase our capacity in both regions and enable us to continue providing life-enhancing renal care to a growing number of patients”.

Paulo Cicogna, Medical Director for Diaverum Brazil, highlighted the impact on patients: “By expanding our capacity and introducing a multidisciplinary approach, we are not only addressing the growing demand for haemodialysis but also enhancing the overall patient experience. Our commitment remains on providing comprehensive, patient-centred care, ensuring that every individual receives the best possible treatment and support”.

With this news, Diaverum Brazil now operates 11 treatment centres across the country, as well as one vascular access centre. More than 1,350 staff will be caring for over 4,400 patients on an annual basis.
