We are delighted and proud to share that a member of our Nursing team was recognised with the Best Presentation Award at the 50th EDTNA/ ERCA Conference, which took place last month.

Sokica Gegovska, Country Nursing Director for Diaverum North Macedonia was voted as having submitted the Best Presentation from among 70 oral presentations, with her subject, “Sleep quality and its association with quality of life domains in a haemodialysis population”. Overall, Diaverum’s Corporate Nursing teams and country teams (with submissions coming from Albania, North Macedonia, Portugal and Romania), submitted 18 oral presentations, 7 e-posters and hosted 1 round-table session, providing benchmark scientific insight across many key areas of renal care.

This award was a particularly proud moment for Sokica, as it was awarded first place by other delegates at the event; it also happened to be only her second submission for the EDTNA/ERCA Conference, having sent an e-poster presentation the previous year. She said: “I am very happy for the opportunity I had to be an active participant at the EDTNA/ ERCA Conference and to present our study. We nurses, play a crucial role by ensuring quality renal care through the competence and passion we have for our work. I hope that this award will inspire colleagues to do more research work and contribute to enhancing our patients’ quality of life”.

Fernando Macário, Chief Medical Officer, added: “I am incredibly proud, both of Soki’s recognition and of all the research our teams delivered in Rotterdam. While the world continues to feel the effects of the pandemic, our nursing teams exceed expectations by carrying out high quality scientific research, which is essential in contributing to continuous improvement and excellence in renal care."

Israel Silva, Corporate Nursing Director, also commented on Diaverum’s commitment to driving progress in renal care: “Diaverum Nursing is committed to our organisation's global mission of delivering life-enhancing renal care, driven by the core belief that everyone deserves a fulfilling life. Through research, we are continually looking into how to improve care and our practice, so when people think about Diaverum, they think of the best and most advanced care possible for all renal patients".

The Conference, held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, marked the first time in over two years that global representatives from the renal care community met in person. It is considered to be one of the most important events in the sector’s calendar, focusing on nurturing and driving the highest levels of education, standards and research.
