Earlier this month, Diaverum Italy welcomed patients to its new clinic in Paternò, Sicily. The new clinic and its auxiliary facilities, which replace the previous clinic’s in the area, include a hub warehouse covering Diaverum’s regional needs across Sicily. It is housed in modern and extremely spacious facilities of approximately 900m2.
The clinic will continue to focus on haemodialysis services, whilst making full use of Diaverum’s proprietary digital infrastructure to treat patients. It is comprised of 10 fully equipped dialysis stations, with additional ones to be accredited in the near future. In addition, the clinic will offer preventive care to outpatients, with its Medical Director Dr Giuseppe Quattrone providing free consultations to patients with nephropathic conditions every afternoon, further underscoring Diaverum Italy’s commitment to nurturing a holistic approach in the life-enhancing renal care it provides.
Our holistic approach to renal care was also at the heart of the clinic’s design concept, with special emphasis given to creating a space for patients that is both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. In addition to being fully aligned with Diaverum brand and clinic design guidelines, the main treatment room is characterised by an elliptical shape that allows all treatments stations to benefit from the spectacular views of the Paternò Valley through large, stained glass windows.
A regional point of reference for renal care
The clinic hosted its official launch on 11 May, with local dignitaries and kidney patient association representatives in attendance. This included Paternò’s Mayor, Antonino Naso, who had this to say about the launch: “It is an honour for our city to have such a beautiful healthcare facility amongst its services; the Paternò clinic will became a point of reference for nephrological care in the territory and surrounding areas. We were really missing a medical structure of this calibre. Diaverum’s investment in Sicily, where public facilities are difficult to reach because of poor public transportation and large distances, marks a significant improvement”.
The Bishop of Catania, Mons. Luigi Renna, added: “This beautiful, modern and full of light clinic will help patients to feel better and to cope better with their illness; caring about patients is not only a matter of curing the body, but also of the soul”.

Currently, Diaverum operates 25 clinics across three regions in Italy (Lazio, Puglia and Sicily), where 300 colleagues care for 1,000 patients, with good potential to grow.
