d.HOLIDAY’s regional presence as a leading holiday dialysis programme continues its upward trajectory, with senior representatives participating in major kidney patient association (KPA) meetings last month. These events united professionals from the renal care sector and kidney patient communities worldwide, to collaborate on enhancing patient care and experiences.
Nordic Kidney Patient Associations’ Annual General Meeting
Held between 3–4 October in Helsinki, Finland, the event brought together KPAs from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. It provided a platform to discuss kidney disease treatment and management, the evolving healthcare landscape in Europe, and collaborative efforts to improve the lives of kidney patients across the region. This year, the event was hosted by the Finnish Kidney and Liver Association, comprising of 18 member associations with nearly 6,000 individual members.
During the event, Elenor Mårtensson, Diaverum’s Global Customer Manager, presented d.HOLIDAY and how it gives dialysis patients the freedom to travel – a fundamental aspect of living a fulfilling life. Elenor explained how it caters to all aspects of travel dialysis, ensuring continuity of patient care outside their home clinic, providing easy access to dialysis care in Diaverum clinics across 24 countries.
Elenor also presented the d.HOLIDAY Fly Back Programme, an initiative which launched earlier this year. This programme enables people on kidney transplant waiting lists to travel within Europe without worry, as it covers all expenses and ensures their return back home if they receive a call for their transplantation procedure.
EKPF 2024 Annual Summit and General Assembly
The European Kidney Patients Federation (EKPF) is an umbrella organisation representing national kidney patient associations across Europe. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and their caregivers. This year, their annual event was held on 17-18 October in Berlin, showcasing a diverse array of discussions and key updates from the kidney patient community. As an official sponsor of EKPF, d.HOLIDAY was invited to participate in insightful presentations, meaningful meetings, and reunions between patient associations & industry representatives, all aimed at advancing our shared mission of improving patient care.
Elenor said: “I was delighted to participate in two significant KPA meetings this month. It was a pleasure to meet representatives of the Nordic KPAs in person and present our work in a new region. Discussing how we can collaborate to help patients live their lives to the fullest was truly inspiring. I am sincerely grateful to the Finnish KPA for inviting me to this meeting and giving me the opportunity to share how d.HOLIDAY empowers patients to travel with confidence around the world.
“I was also honoured to be invited to EKPF’s conference and to learn about the latest research and developments in CKD from industry leaders. The opportunity to discuss the critical challenges facing the field was invaluable. Collaborating with industry partners and KPAs from across Europe on this occasion provided an excellent platform for mutual learning and growth.”
