Representatives from patient associations across 17 European countries, healthcare professionals, dedicated collaborators, and distinguished officials from the Cypriot Ministry of Health, recently came together for the European Kidney Patients’ Federation’s Annual Summit.
Held in Cyprus on 19 October, the event presented a unique opportunity for participants to connect and exchange insights & strategies around current topics related to kidney disease.
The EKPF is the umbrella organisation for 23 national kidney patients’ associations across Europe. The foundation of its activities is the health and well-being of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and their carers, an essential element of which is fulfilling unmet needs such as freedom of movement. This is an objective we are successfully meeting at Diaverum, through our global holiday dialysis programme d.HOLIDAY, which empowers renal care patients and their loved ones to live out their dreams of travels, whilst ensuring their continuity of care at destination.
Diaverum were an active participant during the Summit, of which we were also an Official Sponsor. Elenor Mårtensson, Global Customer Manager for d.HOLIDAY, shared a presentation entitled ‘d.HOLIDAY: a world of possibilities’ which introduced the programme to attendees, and enjoyed exceptional engagement.
Commenting on the event, Michaela Blomstrand, Director of Patient Experience and Stakeholder Management, who leads d.HOLIDAY, said: “I would like to express my gratitude and congratulations to EKPF for organising yet another successful and fruitful event. At Diaverum, we believe that everyone deserves a fulfilling life, and the ability to travel is a key component to this. That’s why we developed d.HOLIDAY, a programme which gives patients easy access to high-quality renal care through our global network of 440 clinics worldwide – making it possible to visit family, travel for work, or go on holiday. We want to make it as easy as possible for anyone on dialysis to travel, empowering them to have a truly relaxing experience”.
Elenor added: “I am delighted to have had the opportunity to present the wealth of benefits that d.HOLIDAY has to offer. Our programme can open up a world of possibilities for CKD patients, allowing them to travel, just like everyone else. It was an absolute pleasure to receive so many questions from the audience”.
In recent months, d.HOLIDAY has achieved a number of significant milestones, including another successful annual Conference in Málaga, Spain, which saw the team introduce a number of exciting updates and benefits set to bring about a significant shift in the holiday dialysis travel industry.
