Today Diaverum announces that Boris Zjacic is stepping down as Chief Operating Officer (COO) after 26 years of outstanding and transformative service.
He joined Gambro Healthcare in the US in 1995 as an acute dialysis staff nurse, becoming Regional Director Acute Services in 2002. In 2005, he moved to Sweden to take up the role of VP Support Services for the company.
In 2008, Boris settled in Germany to become COO, where he would remain to this day, leading the evolution the company’s geographical footprint – now comprising 24 countries and over 450 clinics worldwide – and managing Diaverum’s core markets operations in Latin America, Europe and Eurasia. Boris has overseen market entries into Russia, North Macedonia and Albania and the divestments of Turkey, Australia and New Zealand.
Dimitris Moulavasilis, Diaverum’s CEO, said: “Along with all Boris has achieved within the company, his personal commitment, informal, open and energetic style, and his passion for our people and patients, set him apart. I have truly valued this since I have been with Diaverum and I have no doubt this is the case for so many of us.
“Boris’ reputation goes well beyond the company: he is respected and renowned across the industry, with a significant and widespread reputation as a true professional and expert in the renal care business.”
Boris Zjacic, COO, said: From the start of my career in the 90s, through several roles I’ve held in the US and more recently in Sweden and Germany, and working with colleagues from all over the world, there has been one thing that has never changed – people are always the business. It is the relationships you nurture throughout your life that makes it worthwhile, opening up opportunities when you don’t expect and supporting you when you need it the most.
“I could have not achieved what I did, nor learnt as much as I did, without all the Diaverum people with whom I crossed paths and worked together at some point in the past.”
Following today’s announcement, the Chief Operating Officer role is being eliminated as Diaverum further embeds its regional structure and accelerates the delivery of its 2025 strategy. This means the COO’s responsibilities are devolved amongst each of the Regional VPs (Iberia Latam; West Europe; Central East Europe; and Eurasia) in their respective roles and regions. In the upcoming months, Boris will focus on delivering his handover and ongoing projects.
Diaverum would like to personally thank Boris for his unwavering commitment to the company’s people, operations and purpose, and wish him all success, happiness and health into the future. He has been part of the very fabric of this company’s development and his legacy won’t be forgotten.
